Rolling Pin Advice
Today is my Wedding Anniversary. I can hardly believe it…. how fast time has flown. It seems like yesterday we were two kids getting married. I don’t think I knew what to expect all those years ago, as a young bride. There have been more bumps in the road than I ever dreamed of…
Dark days when my twins were born in critical condition… five long months in the NICU with it’s surgeries and daily fears. We’ve been through the death of a beloved niece, financial ups and downs… and other struggles that daily life can bring.
But through it all, we’ve stayed by each other’s side and loved each other. When I was young, I would have said the mark of good life is one where bad things never happen. Now I know it’s having someone to stand next to you and hold your hand on lovely days when the sun shines and when the storms rage.
Happy Anniversary, my Dear.
I’d love to share some marital advice sent to me by a reader. It was given to her by an elderly friend (who must have grown up in the 1930’s since it sounds just like something from my grandmother’s school memory book from 1935.)
This note was tied to the end of a new rolling pin:
“When you get married and live by the lake, show this to hubby when he comes home too late!
Instructions for use: In fair weather use in the middle. In fowl weather use either end!”
Luckily, in all our years of marriage, I’ve never had to use a rolling pin!
