A No Biggie Tradition

The very talented Kami from No Biggie is here today sharing her family’s favorite holiday tradition.

Welcome Kami!

Hi Make it Do readers!

I am Kami of the blog NoBiggie. I’m happy to be included today in Calli’s fun week of Christmas Traditions. I love being a mom and starting new traditions with our little family. Last year was our first year for this tradition, but we loved it so much, it will be one that lasts.

The weekend after Thanksgiving we head over to a darling little tree farm in Alpine, Utah and we cut down our Christmas Tree. They give you a tall stick to help you choose a tree. Which ever tree you choose, it just has to be taller than the stick. This way the older trees will always get cut down and not the new ones.

It is a special day for our little family, and it does wonders for getting us all in the Christmas spirit.

Once we get our tree all loaded up,

we head on home for some hot chocolate. It’s a great start to the fun season ahead.

Another tradition we have is decorating gingerbread houses…but that’s another story. ;)

  • I love that street I am thankful that in all my 38 years American Fork has stillnot changed that “Happy Holidays” sign.

  • That is so awesome. One of my favorite memories as a child was after Thanksgiving Dinner all of the men (Grandfather, Uncles and Father) and all of the Grandchildren would bundle up and wander with a sled for a tree. We didn’t need a tree farm in the countryside, but Grandfather was always particular that we take a tree taller than him (6-7 feet). We would drag the tree and smaller, darling little girls (ahem) would ride on the sleigh back to the house. The men would set up the tree so it could fall (I used to ask my mom why the tree had to fall, and wouldn’t it get hurt) while the chillins headed in for Cocoa, cookies and pies (I never liked pie, except my Oma’s Lemon Merangue). Then Saturday Morning we would all decorate the tree. String Popcorn and cranberries and have more cocoa and cookies. WE would head home Saturday after dinner (it was a 36 hour drive). The following weekend we would do it all over again at home, except our trees had to be 12 foot tall (loved those cathedral ceilings)….

Thank you Calli! for including me in your week of Christmas traditions!

I hope you have a very merry Christmas!

My favorite family tradition is candle light communion at our small church on Christmas Eve. After we get home, my mom always had several freshed baked pies to dive into. I love Christmas!
