Q-tips Tips for Polishing Silverware

How to use Q-tips to polish Silverware

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and it’s time for me to start getting ready for a house full of friends and family.

I love Thanksgiving… but it’s not just about sitting down with my family over a scrumptious meal and eating til I’m grateful for elastic waistbands…  Its also about careful planning and preparation.

Each year my husband and I sit down one evening in November and polish all the silverware we will need for our place settings.  Since we have so many guests each year, the silverware comes from two sets, my mother-in-law’s and her mother’s silver (my husband’s grandmother).

Even though he’s never said it out loud, the tradition of polishing and using the silverware is a connection to my husband’s past… a reminder of Thanksgivings spent with his family and, most of all, his beloved mamaw.

These sets have great sentimental value and I feel responsible to take care in how we polish it.

Today I’m sharing my first ever video tutorial demonstrating the method we use to polish our silver and sharing some of our tips.

  1. Great video. My only comment is that tarnish is oxidized silver. So removing tarnish is removing silver. No getting around that fact.

I will try the silver cream. I wouldn’t want to ruin Nana’s silver! Thanks. :-)
