Almost here…
I walked out into my yard yesterday and overnight plants that were green the day before have burst into bloom. I love my garden this time of year! Peonies, forget-me-nots, hawthorne trees, snowballs, roses, irises, and poppies… all in bloom.
The rain poured on and off all day yesterday, which was wonderful for all those flowers. I must be part flower because I love a good, hard rain, too. But I am crossing my fingers that it clears up in time for the 6th grade BBQ that I’m in charge of today. 100 kids and a BBQ at the park isn’t quite the same if the rain, rain, rain is coming down, down, down…
My kids have just a few more days of school and they are out for the summer. They can hardly wait. While I love having my kids home, I am not ready for them to be out of school this year. Next year, my oldest goes to middle school. I was looking at old photos of him the other day, and he is growing up so fast. Just a few weeks ago, we stood back to back in our bare feet, and he stood taller than me.
I’ve had a very busy month this May. And am looking forward to finishing up this next week, along with my obligations.
I was weeding in my garden last Saturday and saw the my rhubarb was looking ready. When I’ve got a moment…or two, I can’t wait to make a rhubarb pie.
Be sure to check back tomorrow, I have a wonderful giveaway, that I’m so excited about. I’ll also share I quote that I ran across, while working on a project. I’ve shared the quote before, long ago, but I love it. It was such a good reminder to me that, even when I am busy, I have much to be grateful for.
I am thankful for a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home…. I am thankful for the piles of laundry and ironing because it means my loved ones are nearby.

Lucky Day
Hurray for fun packages in the mail!
I could hardly believe when last week I when I dropped by one of my favorite blogs, nanaCompany, and saw my name.
In the sweetest graphic, it read “Congratulations Calli”.
How fun is it to win a giveaway! And to get packages in the mail.
It’s even better when it’s a sweet handmade gift from Amy.
Her little envelope/house is perfect hanging in my kitchen.
I also won a fat quarter bundle from the Fat Quarter Shop, Rosebud Petal by Tanya Whelan from Free Spirit.
The line is so pretty and low volume. I can’t wait to use it.
There was also a fun bundle of Marble Cosmo Thread by Lecien, which I know will make it’s way into many a project.
I’ve had quite a nanaCompany week, since I made a copy of her little hexie pincushion.
And I’ve slowly been working on her “Be Joyful” embroidery pattern. It’s been my companion at soccer games this spring. But as you can see it’s been an exciting season. I’ve hardly gotten anywhere at all. I even stabbed myself in the hand with my needle once, celebrating a great play. Ouch.
My girls and I are looking forward to our early mornings on the porch swing this summer, where my embroidery has a better (and safer) chance of getting finished.
