Friday Inspiration
I’ve got projects in progress and nothing finished to share today.
Instead, I thought I’d share a bit of what’s inspiring me lately from some of my favorite bloggers.
I’ve been stitching a new embroidery, which reads:
“Be Joyful always Pray and Give Thanks”
When I saw the pattern I knew it was something I needed to make. It makes me so happy as I work, the words are so meaningful to me right now. It’s stitching what is in my heart into cloth.
The pattern is from the lovely and talented, Amy of NanaCompany.
A gratitude quilt has been on my list for a while now. And this lovely quilt, from my dear friend and talented blogger, Amy of Diary of a Quilter, is such an inspiration.
The pattern is featured in the book, Sweet Celebrations with Moda Bakeshop Chefs, where you can find several wonderful patterns by Amy.
The blocks are embroidered with the things Amy is most grateful for. This quilt is such a treasure.
The first hints of Spring are the air, and what better way to celebrate it than with a bunny? I love this new Miss Maggie Rabbit pattern from Alicia Paulson of Posie Gets Cozy.
My girls thoroughly enjoyed making Alicia’s doll pattern and I can hardly wait to make a rabbit or three. I’d really like to make them by Easter, but I’m debating whether I have time to get them all done… especially since I would need to design boy clothes for one of the rabbits… as I’m pretty certain Ben won’t want a Maggie. I think overalls would be in order for him.
Lastly I’ve been swooning over the book, Liberty Love, lent to me by my dear friend Janessa. She recently returned from a trip to NYC where she visited Purl Soho and picked up this book, along with some Liberty fabrics.
I’ve had her book for a few weeks now, and I feel just a little guilty that I haven’t returned it yet. I hope Janessa will forgive me, because it’s been a treat to read through it time and again.
Last, I’ll share a quote that my mom read at a Quilt Guild meeting a few weeks ago, where we presented together. It really captures how I’ve felt about the projects I’ve been working on lately.
We quilt for so many reasons – to escape the stresses of life, to create something beautiful to cherish or to make a gift for future generations. Yet for me the greatest joy comes from those quiet moments every quilter knows. This is time that is my own, when I can relax, reflect and gently sew my memories into cloth.
