Holiday Trip Around the World
This holiday weekend my husband and kiddos have been obsessed playing a new video game together.
Which happily has given me time for my own obsessions.
I started a new embroidery which I’m totally in love with.
And I since there has been so much lovely inspiration all over the quilty blogospere, I jumped aboard the Scrappy Trip Around the World party. Better late than never, right?
Now I get why everyone seems to be getting their quilts done so quickly. A trip around the world is so fast and fun.
And yes, completely addicting.
Part of the addiction is that I’m loving the colors and fabrics I’m using. They are mostly scraps… and a few new fabrics I picked up last week.
Most of my fabrics are 30’s reproductions, with a few Denise Schmidts, some Lecien Old New, and other scraps thrown in.
I’m still debating how many blocks to make, but I suspect I won’t mind making this a bigger quilt.
If you haven’t started your own trip and want to… I used the wonderful Quiltville tutorial found here.
Now if you’ll excuse me while I finish drying my eyes after last night’s Downton Abbey episode.
I’ve decided that Mr. Julian Fellowes is a bit sadistic. I mean, I understand the why, but the when? That was just mean…
Lovely quilt. Ad yes, I’m mad at Julian, too. Apparently it was not his choice, but the other individual’s choice. (Trying to avoid a spoiler.). But, come on, there were other options! A business trip (a long one) for example.
Love this Trip. I have been working with scraps of 1930’s fabrics and find placement of colors is important. Need to do more blocks with better color choices.
Yours is lovely. I’m amazed at how many of these are out there. So incredibly fun to make.
Love your quilt!
I love your quilt! I’ve finished a Kaffe Fassett #scrappytripalong (top only) and now I’m starting a 30s repro one. I hope it looks as great as yours!
I love your quilt. I used the same pattern and loved making it. If you would like to see it, you can find it on pinterest. http://pinterest.com/pin/194006696420396612
It’s very addicting and I can’t wait to start another one.
