Christmas Cards Hanging on the Line
I’ve been looking for a way to display all the Christmas cards we receive each year.
In years past they’ve been lined up along the back of my entry table…. and looked a real mess. I’ve seen a few solutions that cost money, too much money.
Then I spotted this Land of Nod Holiday Work of Art Clips in my last catalog. It looked like a perfect way to display our cards. It also looked like something I could make myself.
I was able to pick up the necessary supplies at my local craft store. I was even able to use a 50% coupon, so the project cost me around $2.
First step was to add the picture hanging clip to the back.
Then I painted the acrylic paint in white and let it dry. Then I drew the peppermint candy swirls with a pencil. Then painted in the red.
Tie on thin ribbon or twine.
And hang it up on the wall. I did consider painting my mini clothes pins. But I’m still not sure I want to. I kind of like the natural.
I am going to make a second row to hold the kids holiday art. I love my new card hanger! It was easy, inexpensive and looks just how I hoped.
Double Delicious Oreo Dippers
Are you looking for a sweet and easy treat for giving (or eating) this season?
Here’s a fun idea for you that comes from my lovely sister-in-law Jen:
Yes, I know. They are store bought cookies. But they aren’t going to stay plain old Oreos, even if they are mint. (You can use regular Oreos, but Cool Mint is festive and my personal favorite for flavor.)
Oh yah baby, we are dipping those Oreos in chocolate.
Choose a chocolate for dipping to get the best results. We used A’peels, which is an easy to work with dipping chocolate from Guittard. Any wafer chocolate suitable for dipping will work. The chocolate was melted carefully in the microwave. The microwave is a fast way to melt the chocolate, but only set 30 seconds or less at a time and stir. You don’t want to overheat your chocolate in the microwave.
Lay them out to cool on parchment or wax paper. But first, while the little dippers are still wet, give them a festive look with a few sprinkles.
Here’s few in milk chocolate too. Yum, I think these are my favorite.
It doesn’t take long for them to cool and harden. Then they are easy to toss in a bag and give them away… but not before you eat a few of course.
They are simply delightful, fast and festive.
