Of Course I Can!
I ran across this old WWII poster yesterday and loved it! Check out her expression, like she’s been scared half to death. I have just one question, is she learning how to can? Because I probably looked like that this first time I put up applesauce all by myself.
Since I have written so much about canning this Fall, I couldn’t resist sharing this picture. I always enjoy a good double entendre. And I just love her attitude. Canning (along with many other homemaking arts) takes an attitude of “Of course I can.” You may ruin a pie, or burn a batch of applesauce and you just have to chalk it up to lessons learned, and the next time you try it, it will probably be better.
The end is in sight for my canning season 2009… just a little grape jelly and juice, the rest of my tomatoes, and maybe, just maybe some mustard pickle…. but only if my husband and father-in-law bribe me.
