Strip Quilt from Scraps
My mom has been working on a new quilt for the last few weeks and I love it so much, I asked her if I could share it.
Over the last many years, when she finishes a project, she cuts some of the scraps up into 1-1/2″ to 2″ strips, in varying lengths.
She’s saved them for a rainy day.
In May it must have have rained, since she pulled out her scraps and started a quilt.
The widest rows are about 16″ wide and the narrowest are about 5″ wide. I love how a few sections run the wrong way. And a few rows have narrow rows through a section.
She’s been hand quilting it before she goes to bed each night. It should be done in a few days.
When my husband saw it, he said, “Oh man, that is an ugly quilt.”
I think it’s one of my favorites that my mom has made.
She has enough scraps to make a few more quilts, so I may be making an ugly quilt just for me. And he won’t be allowed to use it.
Timeless Traditions Giveaway Winner
I’m a little late announcing the Timeless Traditions pattern giveaway winner! With kids home and a whirlwind of projects and activities, I’m not really sure what day it is…
Congratulations Heidi! Send me an email to callimakesdo at gmail dot com with your mailing address, so we can send out your pattern.
Just a few little things more… I just had to share cute puppy photos.
Ben is puppy sitting… a sweet 9 month old dachshund. Ben is thoroughly enjoying having him around. He’s very responsible. Feeding and taking him on walks, I don’t even have to ask him or think about it.
My dog might have a different opinion of having a 9 month puppy around. I forget how much puppies love to bite. It’s a good thing Finn is patient.
My girls are in heaven. It’s like have a baby to take care of. Isn’t he cute?
Between puppy holding, my girls still have endless creative energy. This is what it looks like when they are planning their next quilting projects. They both want to make another doll quilt, a full size quilt, and some summer clothes.
The last few days I’ve finally had a few snippets of time to get back to my scrappy trip. I almost have 4 rows (of 6 blocks) done, out of 6 rows. If I had a little more time to myself, it would be done in a jiffy. Progress had ground to halt until I picked up bit of new fabric. It’s funny, I feel like I threw everything but the kitchen sink into the pile, but just didn’t have enough of a few certain colors.
It’s a whirlwind, but June is rolling along…
